BenarNews is an online news service affiliated with Radio Free Asia (RFA) that reports in Bengali, Thai, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia and English, on pressing topics such as human rights, freedom of expression, conflict, climate change, politics and geopolitics. We are currently looking for a Video and Motion Graphics producer to produce compelling factual video content, along with captivating graphics (still and motion) for our website and social media platforms. This is a Washington D.C.-based position, reporting to the Head of Audience Engagement. 

• Planning visual projects from story development, research, and proposal to production, and drawing upon strong creative skills to explore new trends and approaches to video and animation storytelling.

• Editing video at a level consistent with an understanding of basic video editing concepts and strong proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly in Premiere and After Effects.

• Script, edit, and package video content according to the BenarNews house style

• Designing and producing motion graphics, 2D and 3D animated videos from scratch, including pitching original concepts, developing storyboards and treatment books, and final cut.
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, film, or a related field

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a newsroom

• Strong experience working with Adobe Creative Suite to build animations and motion graphics from scratch

• Demonstrated proficiency in video editing and ability to edit first rough cuts drawing upon all available visual and audio means, including infographic design, data presentation, music, and sound effects

• Effective copywriting skills, experience with visual storytelling, and able to select visuals that most effectively tells news stories

• Production skills – filming with DSLRs, setting up audio and lighting

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

• Fluent in English

• Good to have: fluent in Bengali, Thai, Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Indonesia

• Good to have: Proficiency in other Adobe tools like Illustrator or After Effect
